The Wallpapers

Timna Woollard’s wallpapers begin life as hand-painted works of art created in her London studio with expressive brushwork and a strong connection to the natural world. Each piece is painted traditionally, using brushes and pigments to build up layers of texture, movement, and atmosphere. These original paintings are then scanned in super-high resolution, ensuring every detail and nuance is preserved as they move from canvas to print. The result is a collection of wallcoverings that bring the spirit of hand-painted walls into the home in a format that’s easy to install and enjoy.

The Trailing Hearts & Vines Wallpaper Collection emerged from the process of translating a commissioned mural into a seven panelled repeatable design. Timna began by painting delicate botanicals by hand, exploring the natural growth and rhythm of climbing vines and her beloved Heart-leaf Philodendron. Layered washes and nuanced colour choices were developed to create depth and a sense of movement, while maintaining the spontaneity of the original mural. From these studies, six colourways were carefully selected from a historic palette—ranging from fresh and tropical to dark and glamorous—allowing the wallpaper to convey both the intimacy of hand-painted detail and the enduring elegance of nature’s ornament.

Les Fauves Wallpaper Collection draws its conceptual foundation from the Fauvist movement, whose radical embrace of vivid colour, unrestrained brushwork, and expressive spontaneity redefined early 20th-century painting. This spirit of bold directness and unapologetic intensity became a catalyst for reimagining pattern and surface in a contemporary decorative context, transforming walls into dynamic fields of modern expression.

Layered motifs and chromatic richness harmonise with exuberance suggested a way to translate painterly qualities into an immersive environment. Timna expanded the scale of gesture, distilling forms into simplified yet assertive compositions. The result evokes both the raw immediacy of the Fauves and a disarming, almost naïve charm reminiscent of a child’s dollhouse—a space where innocence and sophistication coexist.

Printed in England on high-quality, ready-trimmed wallpaper, Timna’s designs are available to order in a range of carefully developed colourways. They use the simple ‘paste the wall’ method, making them quick to hang and easy to remove. Her first wallpaper collections, Les Fauves and Trailing Hearts and Vines, introduced her distinctive style to a wider audience, combining painterly freedom with botanical elegance. These will soon be joined by exciting new collections that continue to explore Timna’s fascination with form, colour, and natural rhythm.
