This work, inspired by traditional Japanese bird-and-blossom folding screens (byōbu). Hand painted onto antiqued silver-leafed paper, it draws on the Japanese aesthetic principles of kachōfuugetsu—an appreciation of the beauty in nature’s fleeting moments—and shibui, the balance of simplicity and subtle elegance. The use of silver leaf or pearl backgrounds adds a reflective, ethereal quality, enhancing the sense of depth and delicacy in the composition.
